Gone are the days of newspapers and television news channels. Okay, not completely gone, but there is a transition from newspapers and television news channels to online news. Now online news usually has so much information all available at the same time that it might become hard to digest or find a specific area of interest. To add some people just want the headlines, some want a very small write up on a topic and some want a complete in-depth analysis of the issue in concern and then there is a difference in tastes where someone wants sports news and some current affairs. I present to you an app which caters perfectly to all the above mentioned alignments and interests - Knappily.
Knappily, a short acronym coined for 'Knowledge application daily', was officially launched in January 2016 by a team of 5 founders Gautham Sethuraman, Yashaswi Kumar, Rajnith Kumar, Tushar Sinha and Siddharth Mehra. It is an app which presents editorial analysis in a unique 5W1H way - What, Why, When, Where, Who, How - framework which helps users to get in-depth insights of any article from different points of view and also focus on an area of interest. This information is compiled by taking references from popular news-sources like popular Indian and international dailies like The Hindu, The Times of India, The Guardian, NYT, news agencies like Reuters, ANI, AFP along with relevant YouTube video references (so you can be sure that the articles posted here will not be biased). It presently has around 50 thousand downloads and a rating of 4.8 on Google Play Store.
Knappily covers topics - 'knapps' as the app calls it - of almost all kinds be it politics, entertainment, technology, hot topics - called burning issues, sports and so on. The knapps are stored for offline viewing (which is useful for saving internet data). It also shows knapps on personalities or events that occurred on the same date as that shown by the calendar.

What one would like
Knappily covers topics - 'knapps' as the app calls it - of almost all kinds be it politics, entertainment, technology, hot topics - called burning issues, sports and so on. The knapps are stored for offline viewing (which is useful for saving internet data). It also shows knapps on personalities or events that occurred on the same date as that shown by the calendar.
Some thing that could be improved
The app starts with a screen directly showing the most recent knapp, unread knapp or last seen knapp instead of showing the screen which shows the different topics. It isn't a big deal though, it only takes 1 button to reach that screen.
My take
Knappily presents its users with a well refined study of different topics in an organised manner so that its users can get a critical view on that topic without having to sift through large volumes of information (some of it being repeated at various places). It may initially be a little difficult for some part of the population to adjust to Knappily initially, but this phase is short and rewards the user with well analysed information so as to save time and provide good insights into the topic in question.
